A guidebook for game education on a competence-based open badge system is published

The Guidebook for Badge implementation in educational institutions has been published and is free to download!

Gamebadges aims to fill the gap in between the game industry and the game education sector. In today’s world, it isn’t just about what you know – it’s also about what you can actually do and how clearly you can show it. Gamebadges’ Competence Map and Open Badges are co-developed with both industry experts and educators, and therefore every badge reflects exactly what studios and companies expect from emerging professionals.

“Gamebadges transforms teaching into a bridge between the classroom and the games industry. It allows educators to align assignments with real industry competences, making every project a visible proof of skill rather than just a grade. By integrating badges, teachers help students see the meaning behind their learning, and employers see the value behind their work.” celebrates Daniel Cattier from LUCA, one of the Gamebadges’ project partners.

To support the integration of the badge system to the education, Gamebadges has published the guidebook. This guidebook focuses on bronze-level badges. These entry-level badges refer to the very junior level of a game developer. Silver-level badges align with more advanced competencies.

“For educators, Gamebadges is a power-up for pedagogy. It makes learning outcomes tangible and turns curricula into launchpads for real careers. With every badge earned, the classroom gets a little closer to the job market it serves.”, Daniel Cattier continues. “Gamebadges do not replace diplomas, they amplify them by showing what students can actually do.”

The Badges are a tool to validate competences that are directly relevant to the job market. This enhances the ecosystem by creating a path from education to employment.

This guidebook will walk you through from individual achievements to industry-wide recognition. Read more and download the guidebook here.
