Competence-based Open Badges go hand-in-hand with the game industry Competence Map. The Gamebadges project has created both role-specific hard skill badges and soft skill badges, which are applicable to various game industry roles. All badges have been co-created with game industry professionals to reflect real workplace expectations.
Open Badges are available in three levels:
- Bronze to demonstrate the level of graduates and juniors
- Silver to cover most of the independent professional level
- Gold to highlight “guru level” competences in the industry

Gamebadges are shareable digital credentials: once awarded, you can share them on the platform of your choice – for example on LinkedIn, your portfolio, CV, personal website or other online profiles.
Join us as an early adopter and test the badges
Whether you’re a company representative or a game educator, we are inviting you to join Gamebadges as an early adopter, and test the badges! You can join testing with a smaller or bigger group of people, for example –
- in a company set up, with one game team or some people in specific role in your company,
- and in a game education with one of your courses or with some students in your courses.
Register your interest to join by filling in this short survey. We will be in touch with you about the next steps.
Before filling in the survey, we recommend checking our Competence Map to see which competences would you like to test out with your team or students.
For badge applicants
At the moment, Gamebadges has not opened the badge applications for everyone, but we have opened the applications with the organisations testing our badges and having evaluators on their own. We are looking forward to changing that in the future. Please follow our social media and news section to hear when we are open for badge applications.
