Additional application instructions

In this page, we’ve gathered additional instructions to guide you through the Gamebadges badge application process. For any further information or feedback, contact us via email

The use of AI

The use of AI to generate content for submission(s) in Gamebadges badge applications is generally not allowed.

AI in this context refers to generative artificial intelligence (LLMs, generative AI, and similar tools such as ChatGPT, Midjourney, DeepSeek, Adobe Firefly, GitHub Copilot, and Google Gemini), without excluding other comparable technologies.

Not Allowed
The use of AI to generate original content for the evidence is strictly prohibited. This includes, but is not limited to:

  • AI-generated text
  • AI-created visuals, models, or code
  • Any other creative or technical materials produced by AI

Allowed (with limitations)
AI tools may be used in a minor role, for ideation and support tasks such as:

  • Grammar and language correction
  • Brainstorming (e.g., ideating character concepts, mechanic ideas, or narrative prompts)
  • Structuring work (e.g., organising sections or planning the structure of documents)

Note: None of the material generated by AI tools may be directly included in the final submission. Applicants must ensure that all submitted evidence is entirely their own original work.

If used, the following must be included in the Declaration of AI Usage:

  • The original prompt(s)
  • The AI-generated response(s)

Declaration of AI Usage

If AI tools have been used, the Gamebadges badge application must be accompanied by a Declaration of AI Usage specifying how the tools were used during the preparation process. The declaration must detail how AI contributed to the final result (see the instructions above for permitted uses). The declaration must be completed using the provided PDF template.

During the preparation of this [specify submission(s)], I used [name of tool/service] to [state reason]. The key prompts I used were as follows: [examples of key prompts]. After using this [tool/service], I reviewed and edited the content as necessary and take full responsibility for the final publication.

Failure to provide a complete and honest declaration will result in the rejection of the submission and may lead to disqualification from future applications

Using Teamwork Outcomes in Your Application

We understand that teamwork is an essential part of game development. Here are instructions for declaring your individual role in joint projects. Please follow the template provided below in your application. The declaration of authorship must detail how you contributed to the final result. The declaration of authorship should follow the structure below.

  • Concept (80%): Initial ideation, world-building, and core narrative development.
  • Game Design (60%): Level design, gameplay mechanics, user interface and user experience flow, balancing.
  • Programming (40%): Implementing core game systems (e.g., player movement, combat), scripting specific events or interactions, and debugging. Core scripts:
    • PlayerController.cs: Implemented character movement and input handling.
    • EnemyAI.cs: Developed enemy behaviour patterns and pathfinding.
    • GameManager.cs: Handled scene management and game state transitions.

Failure to provide a complete and honest declaration will result in the rejection of the submission and may lead to disqualification from future applications
