The Gamebadges project began sharing updates with its stakeholder groups in autumn 2024. Keeping key stakeholders, such as educational institutions offering game education and game companies, informed from the project’s early stages is important for the project. Equally important is gathering feedback on what we are doing.
In autumn 2024 and January 2025, we held our first round of stakeholder meetings with game education institutions. These sessions were organized by our project partners in their home countries: Belgium, Czechia, Denmark, Finland, and the Netherlands.
We were thrilled to see the enthusiasm for the project and its potential outcomes. The discussions underscored the importance of aligning educational objectives with industry demands, which are corner stones of the competence map and open badges being developed. As these meetings focused on game education, the main focus was how the competence map and open badges can support students finding their way in the industry, and how can these tools support the game educators in their work.
We also greatly appreciated the feedback and questions we received. These insights will be part of our next steps in this project. Our goal is to create a sustainable system that remains relevant and aligned with industry and educational needs long after the project concludes.
Later this year, we will host the first round of stakeholder meetings for game companies in the home countries of our project partners, along with the second round of meetings for game educators.
